Additional Admission Requirements

Prerequisites

The courses listed below are intended to serve as a sample of those accepted under each requirement. If you have specific questions about a course that is not listed here, please consult your UNMC College of Nursing Student Services Coordinator. A few courses have been approved in more than one category. However, a student may not use a single course to satisfy more than one requirement.

Many courses have prerequisite requirements. You are responsible for checking whether or not you have met the prerequisites for the electives you choose.

Humanities

The course should provide students with knowledge of the history and creation of music and art, or knowledge of literary, philosophical, or religious efforts to interpret and illuminate human existence.

Culture, Race, Ethnicity and Gender

The course should provide students with knowledge and analysis of theoretical concerns, social experiences, or creative works arising from human diversity in the United States and the world community to which it belongs.

Family and Human Behavior

The course should provide students with knowledge of individual, family, and group behavior.

Political Science and Social Organizational

The course should provide students with knowledge of the structure and governance of societies, including policies, institutions and processes; the characteristics of economic practices and systems; or the interplay of human activity and the natural environment.

NOTE: Credit earned more than ten years prior to application for admission will be reviewed by the undergraduate student services office. Applicants may be required to repeat or refresh some courses. The Director of Undergraduate Programs may review these credits and act as the final authority for transfer credit.
