Central Community College today announced the retirement of CCC-Columbus President Dr. Kathy Fuchser effective Jan. 4, 2027.
Fuchser has led the Columbus Campus since January 2018, succeeding Dr. Matt Gotschall, who was appointed as college president. Some of her accomplishments include overseeing the addition of The Center for Science and Technology, improving curriculum and assessment across instructional divisions and strengthening and expanding CCC athletic programs and the launch of upgrades to the Raider Fieldhouse. She also fostered partnerships with JAG Nebraska, Valley County Economic Development and Columbus Community Hospital as well as numerous high schools, businesses and industry.
“Since July of 2014, my work at Central Community College has been professionally rewarding and personally meaningful,” said Fuchser. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to grow, contribute and learn alongside dedicated colleagues. Serving as Columbus Campus president is the pinnacle of my career.”
Fuchser joined CCC full-time in 2014 as dean of instruction for academic education. From 2005 to 2014, she was an education professor and secondary program coordinator at Midland University, which included time as an undergraduate program coordinator. Prior to her employment at Midland, Fuchser served CCC as an early college adjunct instructor, teaching English and literature.
“We will miss Kathy’s unwavering support for all things Central, most importantly, support of our students,” said CCC President Dr. Matt Gotschall. “Her positive leadership of areawide instructional divisions, adult education, entrepreneurship, athletics and the Columbus region will be felt for generations.”
