CCC’s First Flag Football Coach Named

Central Community College athletics is pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Humphries as the inaugural head coach of the Raiders women’s flag football team.

Humphries most recently served as the tight ends coach and offensive assistant at Southern Nazarene University, an NCAA Division II program. He was involved in player development, recruiting, offensive game planning and film analysis.

“I’m very honored and blessed to build and grow a flag football team here at Central Community College, it’s an exciting opportunity and a great place,” said Humphries, who is based at the Hastings Campus where the team will play. “I can’t really express how excited I am to hit the ground running and get a team that everyone can be proud of.”

Prior to Southern Nazarene, Humphries served as an assistant athletic director and head football coach at St. Anthony Catholic High School in San Antonio, Texas. He led the Yellow Jackets to a Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools playoff berth. Humphries held the same positions at McDade Independent School District, helping lead the program to its first playoff appearance while increasing student-athlete participation.

“Starting a new program is an exciting opportunity and Justin brings the leadership, experience and vision to build a strong foundation for Raider flag football,” said Mary Young, CCC athletics director. “We are thrilled to have him lead our inaugural team, establish a culture of success and create new opportunities for student-athletes at Central Community College.” A native of Bastrop, Texas, Humphries earned a bachelor of science in kinesiology from the University of the Incarnate Word and holds numerous coaching, education, safety, fitness and sports-related certifications.
