Nursing assistants – also known as nurse aides, orderlies, patient care technicians and home health aides – help patients with daily living tasks. They work in nursing homes, hospitals, mental health facilities, assisted living facilities and private homes.
This 76-hour training is required by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for registry and for employment as a nursing assistant. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to take the state competency examination, which consists of written and skills tests. The testing dates are Dec. 21 and Dec. 22.
