Nursing assistants – also known as nurse aides, orderlies, patient care technicians and home health aides – help patients with daily living tasks. They work in nursing homes, hospitals, mental health facilities, assisted living facilities and private homes.
This 76-hour training is required by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for registry and for employment as a nursing assistant. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to take the state competency examination, which consists of written and skills tests. The testing dates are Sept. 8 and Sept. 9.
