"The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize academic achievement and encourage scholarships among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence."

What Alpha Tau Tau Is All About

Thank you for showing interest in joining the Phi Theta Kappa honor society!

Alpha Tau Tau is the name of the CCC Grand Island

campus chapter.

Phi Theta Kappa has 1,200 chapters at over 720 two-year colleges nationwide, in Canada, Great Britain, and Germany. It is the largest honor society in the world with over 1.5 million members. Alpha Tau Tau currently has approximately 85 members.

Last year, 25 members helped the chapter with its activities and attended regular meetings. These members are referred to as Active Members. Active members make the chapter a reality. Without them no one would know who we are or what we are about. We meet at least twice a month during the fall and spring semesters.

The main purpose of the honor society is to give recognition to members and help them obtain scholarships. Our chapter is also dedicated to provide service to the campus and community. It is a high priority. Over $45,000 of scholarships are awarded to Alpha Tau Tau members each year. In order for the members to succeed in gaining scholarships, the chapter provides opportunities for community service, college service, leadership experience, letters of recommendation, and fellowship among members to help maintain academic success. These experiences increase the chances of being awarded a scholarship.

Our Active members all feel a great sense of satisfaction by giving back to our community and college.

Active members receive points for helping and attending meetings. The chapter will purchase a stole and tassel for any member achieving 200 points by graduation.
