Electrical Technology

The electrical technology program offered at the Grand Island and Hastings campuses provides the fundamental knowledge needed for employment as a construction electrician, industrial electrician, electric motor service person, and equipment sales person.

Increased use of technology means homes, business and other buildings need more wiring than ever before. In addition, there is a growing need for electricians to install new components and to maintain electrical equipment. Employment of electricians is expected to grow 23 percent from 2010 to 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

The construction electrician associate of applied science degree provides a well-rounded education in the skills needed for employment in the construction industry.

After completing an apprenticeship, graduates are prepared to pass the examinations required to become journeyman and master electricians.

Other program options are:

  • Construction Electrician Diploma
  • Residential Electrician Diploma
  • Commercial Wiring Certificate
  • Electrical Fundamentals Certificate
  • Residential Wiring Certificate

The degree program and the construction electrician diploma are offered at the Hastings Campus. Other program options are available at our Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings campuses.
