Weatherization

 

Weatherization workshops: A state of the art 44' mobile trailer will be utilized to deliver all hands on training for these workshops.

 

Installer Fundamentals:

This five-day class covers building science theory and construction methods as well as exercises and techniques for installation for weatherization materials. This course will focus  on hands-on application of blower doors, combustion safety, building science, safety, and hand/power tools. Includes the basics of mobile home and multi-family weatherization.



Installer Intermediate:

This five-day class covers building science theory and construction methods as well as exercises and techniques for installation of weatherization materials. This course will focus on hands-on application of weatherstripping, insulation, mechanical ventilation, caulking, door and window installation. Included is difficult weatherization procedures such as basements and crawl spaces.

Prerequisite: Weatherization Fundamentals

 

Crew Chief:

This three-day class is for personnel that supervise field workers or technician/installers. It will include project management, inspection and measurement, diagnostic testing, combustion appliance safety, insulation, and training of their crew.

Prerequisite: Weatherization Installer Fundamentals and Intermediate

 

Energy Auditor, Single Family:

This five-day  class is for individuals who initiate the energy audit and complete the scope of work to be accomplished by the work crews. The course will include, inspection and measurement, diagnostic testing, combustion appliance safety, weatherization measure selection, and work scope development.

Prerequisite: Weatherization Installer Fundamentals and Intermediate, Crew Chief.

 

Mobile Home:

This four-day class is for all individuals who will perform weatherization work on mobile homes. The course will include, inspection and measurement, diagnostic testing, combustion appliance safety, weatherization measure selection, and work scope development. This course is hands on in a mobile home trailer.

Prerequisite: None

 

CAZ (Combustion Appliance Zone Training):

This 2-day class is an introduction to the Weatherization Action program. Items covered will include the characteristics of the client base served by the program. The cost effectiveness and the savings-to-investments ratio. This course includes the distribution and venting, appliance safety and efficiency inspections, health and safety.

 

RRP-LSW (Renovation, Repair & Painting/Lead Safety & Renovation):

This 2-day class is intended for Weatherization workers, both in-house and contractor.  Topics covered are lead safe work practices, maintain containment areas to minimize the spread of dust. Prepare and maintain the required paperwork. Hands on testing and certification testing.
