Next Beyond the Screen Classes Set for Sept. 6 & 8 in Grand Island

Two movies will be featured in September as part of the “Beyond the Screen” series at Central Community College-Grand Island.

“Suddenly” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6. In this 1954 crime film, the small town of Suddenly, Calif., is preparing for a presidential visit. Three assassins posing as FBI agents take the Benson family hostage because their home provides the perfect location for killing the president. The town’s sheriff tries to save the day by negotiating with the assassins.

“Fly Away Home” will be shown at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8. In this 1996 drama, Amy loses her mother in a car accident and goes to live with her estranged father in Canada. Her struggle to adapt to her new home ends when she finds a nest of abandoned goose eggs. When they hatch, Amy’s relationship with her dad improves as teach the goslings how to fly south for the winter.

The “Beyond the Screen” series is offered free of charge and is open to people who enjoy watching and discussing movies. The movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion moderated by CCC English instructor Jim Kosmicki to follow.
